You may expect our team here at Simply Shuttles to talk up the popularity of Costa del Sol golf transfers, but it’s not just us who are getting excited at the moment about this tourist-magnet region of Spain. Indeed, some hotels in this area of the country are even expecting to open early this year as a consequence of a major rise in reservations.
That increase in bookings, in turn, it seems can be largely attributed to the UK Government’s decision to remove the requirement for vaccinated travellers to undergo a COVID-19 test.
“An important relief” for Costa del Sol tourism
The British Government’s change to the coronavirus test requirement for vaccinated travellers entering the UK will take effect from 11th February – and it has been reported that the news caused Costa del Sol hotel bookings to “multiply”.
Javier Hernández, vice-CEO of the hotel association Aehcos, was quoted as saying that reservations from British tourists had gone up significantly since the UK Government announcement.
Britons account for the majority of international tourists to the Spanish region, so it is great news that in the words of Hernández, the UK market “is quite active, mainly thanks to tour operation”. He said there had been a “generalised” rise in demand on the Costa del Sol, and that this was a trend he expected to sustain itself over time.
Hernández added that the hotel association had been taken aback by the sheer increase in reservations that had arisen in the space of “just a few hours” after the UK Government’s announcement, and said this had been “an important relief” for the industry.
Now could therefore be the moment to plan your next visit to the Costa del Sol
The enduring pleasures and stimulations of the Costa del Sol are no secret, but not everyone was expecting the region’s tourist sector to see such a swift and sterling recovery in the wake of the pressures brought by the coronavirus crisis.
And sure enough, local hotels are set to take advantage, Hernández explaining that the UK Government’s decision may lead some establishments to “open earlier than expected” in 2022.
While some establishments, he said, had intended to open a few days before Easter in April, they now planned to bring forward their opening to 11th February.
Nor is the announcement from the UK Government the only good news the Costa del Sol tourist industry has seen lately, the European Union (EU) having confirmed that travellers with the COVID passport will be entitled to travel without restriction from 1st February.
The second quarter of 2022, then, looks set to be a time of revival for tourism in this area of southern Spain. Why not start making the most of it yourself, by enquiring to Simply Shuttles now about our highly rated Costa del Sol golf transfers?
