Marbella Old Town Travel Guide

With its pretty whitewashed buildings, beautiful plaza, narrow cobbled streets, scented flowers and an abundance of chic restaurants and boutiques, a trip to Marbella Old Town or Casco Antiguo is not to be missed. Situated in the centre of Marbella, just a few hundred metres from the seafront, the Old Town is partially surrounded by the ruins of an old Arab wall, and wandering through its winding streets is always an enjoyable experience.

Set in the heart of the Old Town is the Plaza de los Naranjos or the Orange Square, with its fragrant orange trees, lively terrazas and Castillian Renaissance architecture. At night, the plaza comes alive with bustling open air restaurants and colourful performers who entertain the crowds with their passionate flamenco music and dance.

From the plaza, wander over to the impressive Cathedral. En route you’ll discover a wide range of restaurants to choose from including contemporary and Spanish restaurants such as Buenaventura with its indoor and outdoor patio, as well other restaurants selling Argentinian and Mediterranean cuisine.

“Beautiful town square. Lots of little alleys to explore. Great restaurants – very lively scene. To top it off, very charming buildings draped with bougainvillea and jasmine.” HappyVine106, TripAdvisor
